Even if you’re not a believer in ghosts, staying in one of these hotels might just change your mind.
1. Myrtles Plantation, St. Francisville, Louisiana
Guests of this bed-and-breakfast report footsteps on the stairs, vanishing objects, and handprints on the mirrors. The grand piano can be heard playing by itself, repeating the same haunting chord. (image featured)
2. The Stanley, Estes Park, Colorado
A hotel is surely haunted if it can spook Stephen King. While staying here, he was inspired to write The Shining. Among the ghosts rumored to haunt this hotel are its original owner and his wife.
3. The Hollywood Roosevelt, Hollywood, California
This historic hotel hosts many famous spirits, including Montgomery Clift, who stayed here while filming From Here to Eternity and still likes to play his trumpet late at night. Its most famous spirit is Marilyn Monroe, who lived at the hotel for two years early in her career.
4. Hotel del Coronado, Coronado, California
On Thanksgiving Day in 1892, a woman named Kate Morgan checked into the hotel and five days later took her own life. Stories say she was waiting to meet her lover, who never showed. In her third-floor guest room, visitors have reported items moving on their own, unexplained footsteps, voices, and doors opening at random.
